Concrete, copper honey bee & spoon

This handmade artwork in copper addresses the plight of bees and their decline as a result of human impact.

The little copper honey bee is resting on the end of a spoon, tired from trying to find unpolluted pollen. There is a duality here as it also appears as if we are about to eat the little bee. It represents our destructive consumption of the natural world. The bee and honeycomb spoon are copper plated. This creates a protective armour suit around the honey bee, symbolising its resilience and ability to fightback.
