This handmade bronze art medal, Twin Landscape, was created by artist Kate Ive while on residency in Bulgaria.

Kate was selected as the British Art Medal Society’s ‘New Medallist’. The award is run by BAMS in collaboration with the British Museum, V&A, Royal Mint and National Academy of Art Sofia, Bulgaria. Kate spent 1 month at the National Academy in Bulgaria, where she created this art medal.

Kate spent 2 weeks in Veliko Tarnovo. She was inspired by the beauty of the mountainous Bulgarian Landscape. She hand carved this medal in plaster, before it was cast in bronze and patinated. The landscape detail is found on carved into the top edge. The two separate parts complete this unique take on the natural landscape.
