Handmade cast bronze medal with patina
Kate created this carved bronze art medal while on residency in Bulgaria.
Kate was selected as the British Art Medal Society’s ‘New Medallist’. The award is run by BAMS in collaboration with the British Museum, V&A, Royal Mint and National Academy of Art Sofia, Bulgaria. Kate spent 1 month at the National Academy in Bulgaria, where she created this art medal.
This particular medal was inspired by a visit to Roman ruins. Kate found the ruins’ rubbish dump, which was full of animal teeth and bones. Inspired by the pigs teeth, Kate carved this art medal in plaster. She created a topographical landscape in the shape of a map. The map is viewed in perspective and has topographical contour lines. From the map rise mountain forms carved in the shape of teeth.
This carved bronze art medal is an edition of 25. Please get in touch to enquire about sales of this art medal and Kate’s other sculptures.
